Callout to Music Makers and Producers
First open submission for tracks to be used on the Creative Minds YT channel.
Hey,
Hope you’re having a good week, quick update on some channel news here (feel free to ignore if the opportunity doesn’t suit).
I’ve spoken before about my intention for this newsletter to pull in creators from this community, and get their work seen through the YT channel.
This is a long term effort, and the methods will be diverse and evolving (hopefully developing beyond music), but I’ve got a schedule of videos laid out for the upcoming months, and I’m looking for music to use in the edits.
I’ve set out aims for the future to pay creators for anything I use, but I’m not making enough to cover my own costs at the moment, so loading… on that one.
I respect this will turn off a number of you at this stage, but for those who are still interested, I’ll lay out below what the terms I can offer are, and any details of how to send over your work if you’d like the opportunity get involved.
What you’ll get:
Any music used will be:
Credited in the description of the video it’s used in, along with a link to your work if you want to send one over in the email. The credit will be above the videos I’ve used as source material, and I’ll be writing a short intro in the description, suggesting viewers check out the music from artists from this community.
Credited on-screen in the video titles where possible (I am planning some future live work, where this might be harder for me to do).
How to send the work if you’re interested:
Send me an email with an mp3, or mp3s (max 3 please), of the work you want to submit to will.video24@gmail.com
In the email, copy and paste the below sentence:
I give permission for you to use this music in your videos on the ‘Creative Minds’ Youtube channel, and for those videos to be monetised, under the understanding that the music will be credited in the description.
How I’m going to process the music:
Just a note on my process to avoid bias - I’ll be downloading the music as it comes in, and adding to a folder for use in the videos. When I’m editing the videos, I’ll go back to that folder and look for stuff that works with the content, not paying attention to creator names or emails, just the song and how it fits with the visuals. Once videos are complete, I’ll follow the pathway of the music back to the email and creator, where I’ll build the credit from.
In terms of the style of music I use, I would love to be more diverse across my edits, but as a general rule, instrumental tracks or tracks with long instrumental sections are going to be more useful.
As I said above, I hope to evolve the opportunities I can put out to creators, and this open call is a first mode, in a foundational time for the channel. But if you fancy the opportunity, I look forward to hearing your stuff in the email.
Peace and love.
Will (Creative Minds).
